From the most unlikely origins, Jesus will commission Paul to implement the great work narrated in the book of Acts - taking the gospel out across the Mediterranean world. But before Paul turns to Christ, even before Peter starts baptising Gentiles, comes the deacon Philip. In his preaching, the gospel smashes taboos of ethnicity, religion, and sexuality.

This special episode follows up on last Monday's brief look at Acts 7, with a study class that I wrote earlier this year. In the Acts narrative, chapter seven marks a significant turning point, and in chapter eight we get an exciting glimpse of where the gospel is going - out into the world, to everyone who will listen!

We also take a whistle-stop tour of the book to consider the over-arching narrative with its brilliant, final, paradoxical twist. These are incredibly inspiring passages, as Jesus' gospel of inclusion and redemption starts to expand beyond its Jewish roots.
