This week's Revelation passage even has a rare, legitimate, direct link to another of the week's passages, specifically from Isaiah. Rebirth is the theme of Isaiah, the rebirth of Israel as a nation and a people of God. That in turn complements the 1 Samuel reading rather nicely, as the Deuteronomist starts on the story of the birth of the original Israelite nation.
